Note that RSS is a type of XML. Be sure to get the "encoding" field correct, otherwise RSS readers may display symbols or foreign characters incorrectly.

Also note that although you can hand craft RSS with PHP, Java, Ruby, Python or another language of your choice, it is best to use an RSS library API. This is because if you forget to properly escape the contents of your RSS feed, it may break other RSS readers.
