RSS feeds commonly known as “Really Simple Syndication” or “Rich Site Summary” are similar to sections of newspaper that reside somewhere else on the internet.
Let’s say that for a moment that you would like to keep updated on particular category of news stories on CNN. You could visit
http://www.cnn.com/services/rss/
and notice that they have a variety of sections including “Top Stories”, “World”, “U.S.”, “Sports”, etc.
You can choose any of those feeds and have them linked to your web page by using an RSS Reader plugin (sometimes called the “RSS Aggregator”). This way – any time whenever someone visits your web page, your webpage looks fresh because the content on your web page is automatically updated from the RSS feeds. It is a great way to keep a site interesting for your visitors.
